In 1999, David was recruited as the first analyst of the VC arm of Société Générale, where he actively participated to the creation and development of the Private Equity branch, which became one of the most active in France. As an associate in charge of investments at Société Generale Asset Management with a special focus on Research and Intelligence, David 's role covered the writing of investment strategy reports, the detection by all means of interesting investment opportunities, the review of thousands of business plans (up to 500 per year), the selection of the cases, the writing of Investment Memorandums for investment committees and further the involvement in portfolio companies as board observer. Involved early in his career in about 30 early and later stage VC and M&A transactions in various fields and all stages. Proactively involved to invest in Kelkoo - one of 1st the landmark Exits in Europe in digital Media (sold half a billion dollars and still so far one of the rare ones have grown on a genuine pan European scale), awarded as the "EVCA deal of the year" in 2004 between thousands of deals across Europe. Strong skills in sourcing "high quality deals in due time" (early stages), further examples included Spotify, One.com, Mojang and more selected few. David pioneered the screening of European investment opportunities on behalf of VCTs (Venture Capital Trust) from January 2002, while those VCTs got the legal authorization to invest across EU by the "loi de finance" of December 2001. David developed and advised upon a pan European investment strategy and operational roadmap for VCT funds. Previously, David started his career in financial controlling in the advertising business at Vivendi / Havas Media Communication (since then acquired by JCDecaux), responsible for the reporting over 1b€ activity from worldwide subsidiaries, developing specific skills in top-notch financial reporting and training several CFOs of several subsidiaries to implement a real-time, press button new financial reporting system.
